Opportunity Inc. is scheduled to receive nearly $4.4 million in addition to its normal funding for adult workers ($884,520), dislocated/laid-off workers ($1,272,124) and youth programs ($2,207,319). TRAINING AND JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE
If you have been laid off, or believe you are otherwise eligible for training, please contact our One-Stop Workforce Center at 757-461-7537. If you were previously unable to receive training because Opportunity Inc.'s program funds were exhausted, call today as you may be eligible for training under the stimulus. UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE
Effective May 3, 2009, Unemployment Insurance claimants who exhausted their Tier I benefits will be eligible for Tier II benefits. The VEC is mailing applications to potential claimants who have already exhausted Tier I benefits. All claimants will receive some type of notification concerning any additional entitlement.
TIP: If you are in “current claim status” (you have not yet exhausted Tier I benefits or it has been less than 28 days since last filing a weekly claim) continue filing their weekly claim. Otherwise, CONTACT THE VIRGINIA EMPLOYMENT COMMISSION. DON’T WAIT FOR NOTIFICATION BECAUSE BENEFITS ARE NOT RETROACTIVE.
