Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA)



The Workforce Investment Act of 1998, or WIA, is federal legislation that governors the nation's workforce development system. It is the legislation authorizing creation of Opportunity Inc., the Hampton Roads Workforce Development Board. Further, WIA is Opportunity Inc.'s primary source of funding. 

The Workforce Investment Act is currently pending Congressional reauthorization.
